Guest Blog--Jackie Layton--Chance for a Free Book! WINNER: Guest#aaa2

Updated: Sep 26, 2021

Welcome, Jackie!

I’m Jackie Layton, and I live on the coast of South Carolina. I’ve always loved the beach, and now we can get there in five minutes riding our golf cart. My husband works full time, and I work part-time as a pharmacist and full-time as an author.

The first thing you’ll probably notice about me is I’m tall. 5’10” and so many people have commented on my height over the years.

Tell us about your book.

Bag of Bones is the third book in A Low Country Dog Walker Mystery series. Andi Grace Scott is Heyward Beach’s favorite dog walker. She has lived all of her life on the coast and knows most of the locals. The murder victim is a newcomer, and as Andi Grace begins to solve the mystery, her past and her present life converge.

Blurb:

Who’d have imagined caring for stray cats could lead to murder?

Andi Grace Scott adopts components of a healthy lifestyle which includes eating healthy foods and exercising. What she doesn’t plan on is finding a dead body on her early morning beach run.

She never planned to investigate another murder, but a young woman needs help. In the process of catching the killer, Andi Grace confronts not only her past relationships but some truths about her deceased mother.

Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book.

When I write, I see the scene clearly and sometimes forget to describe it well enough. I’m thankful for a good critique group and a good editor who will tell me to describe the scene better.

Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two. :)

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever found on the beach or on vacation? Hopefully it wasn’t a dead body like Andi Grace found.

At the tip of Holden Beach, North Carolina you can find a mailbox and bench. Inside the mailbox is a journal for people to write anything you want. I have been amazed at what some people will write. I’ve read poetry, prayers, and observations of the weather. It’s always interesting.

By the way, Jackie isn't a new author to me. She's a member of our LowCountry ACFW and I've read the first two of her books--love her quirky voice and the interesting characters! Highly recommend. Thanks, Jackie, for joining us!
