Guest Blog: Lori DeJong and A Match Made at Christmas *Prize--A Print Copy Signed by all 4 Authors! WINNER: Susan Heim

Updated: Oct 20

Dear Readers, thank you, as always, for joining me here at Christina's Corner. I love learning about new-to-me Christian romance authors--and this week we get to learn about four of them (except now that I look closer--two have already been guests on this blog--see if you recognize them)! Blessings all around!

Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they meet you.

Hi, I’m Lori DeJong, and I live in Georgetown, Texas, about thirty miles north of Austin in beautiful Hill Country. As for what people might notice about me when they meet me, I’m not really sure. What I hope they see is someone who cares about them and is interested in who they are.

Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb?

I was excited to be asked to take part in A Match Made at Christmas, a collection of Christmas romance novellas, with three other authors from Scrivenings Press – Amy Anguish, Heather Greer, and Sarah Crouch. I’d never written a novella before and had a great time coming up with and writing Cody and Aubrey’s second-chance romance story in Jingle Bell Matchmakers. Here’s a bit about it:

When country music star Aubrey Mayfield is lured home after years away, she’s bewildered when she and ex-fiance-now-widowed-dad Cody Lansdale keep finding themselves in the same place at the same time. As they become reacquainted, however, old feelings stir. Aubrey’s at a crossroads in her career and is contemplating a change. But when a chance at headlining her own tour takes her back to Nashville, Cody realizes her dreams may once again come between them. Unless God, with a little help from the Jingle Bell Committee, has a better plan.

Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book?

This was my first novella, which are usually around 20,000 to 25,000 words, and my novels are long contemporary, which means they’re anywhere from 90,000 to 95,000 words. So, keeping the word count down was a challenge for me. After the first draft, I took out 3,000 words during my editing stage, which is difficult for a writer. Haha! But I do believe it made the story tighter and a better read. I’d love to do more novellas. I had a blast writing this story.

Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two?

Have you ever had a chance to play matchmaker for someone? Or did someone play matchmaker for you? I’d love to hear your story!

A friend at work introduced me to the new guy. That was 23 years ago, and we are still together.

When I was in college my BF from HS tried to set me up with a old HS classmate. My hometown is on the shore of Lake Michigan. We stopped at one of the parking viewing vistas. My friend and her husband got out to walk leaving my date and I in the back seat. We were innocently talking and catching up. He gave me a kiss. All of a sudden we see a flashlight through the window and a policeman telling us to get out of the car. So embarrassing! Unfortunately things went downhill from there.

Lori, thanks for commenting! I'm not sure why some people's names aren't showing--maybe the site is forcing people to subscribe? Always the technology.
