Dear Readers, I hope you are well!
This post is a first--a second edition of a book we've already learned about! I'm intrigued to learn why a second edition, and more. Let's read...
Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they meet you.

Thanks for featuring me again! My name is Aubrey Taylor. I adopted the pen name Aubrey Reiss Taylor a few years ago, since apparently there’s already an Aubrey Taylor, Author out there! I’m from Upstate New York, just south of Lake Ontario. It’s hard to say what people notice when they meet me. I hope they see a smile and a warm character who tries to be a good listener, though I am not always successful. On the other hand, if I’m with my family, they most definitely notice my kids. {Laughs}
Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb.
I just released the Second Edition of my debut novel, Sani: The German Medic. The original was published in 2021. The back cover of the new edition reads:
Can a young man born in America navigate between his family’s fears and the enthusiasm he encounters as he returns to his ancestral homeland?
Raised in a German-American community, Frederick cannot resist the pull of the Fatherland. America is in the depths of the Great Depression, yet Germany is thriving under Adolf Hitler. A sense of opportunity draws him back to Europe, and together with his new friend Fritz, he volunteers for the German Army.

Though Frederick anticipates adventure and camaraderie, he experiences a continent plunging into war. His new friends say he can’t possibly understand their perspective. Can an army chaplain help bridge the gap? Or does the man hold a secret that will only devastate Frederick further?
Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book?
I had multiple reasons for creating a second edition, but the most difficult revisions involved the book’s strong faith themes. Sani was originally written for the Christian market, but since then, God has called me to write for a broader audience. I wanted to revise the book in a way that would maintain the heart of the story without alienating readers or pulling them out of the story with “Christianese.” I hope there are a few people out there who have read the first edition and are eager to read the second and give some feedback.
Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two?
Do you prefer to read books with strong faith themes, or do you look for books that are “clean” but do not necessarily contain a strong gospel message?
Once in a while, a book with a clear gospel message is refreshing, but I enjoy a wide variety of books, and to be honest, most of the books I read are nonfiction and soldier memoirs. Those can sometimes be tough reads for a Christian, but they certainly bring me closer to the realities of life for the men I write about!

I'd love to read this, especially the 2nd edition! I agree that sometimes it's better to make the gospel message less in-your-face.
I look for both. I am a mood reader. Sometimes, I just want to read a great story that jumps out at me. Thank you for the opportunity. I enjoy books about WWII. God bless you. Have a wonderful week.
I think I may have found a new author to read. Nice to meet you Aubrey Taylor. I am going to try and find both the original and revised edition of Sani and write a review of each. I will look for them at my library. Both sound amazing!
I do read clean books but try to reall kinds of books from clean books to books of faith to other kinds of books too
