Guest Blog: Darlene L. Turner WINNER: Read to the End!

Updated: Oct 23, 2022

I'm so excited to share with you our guest for this week! Darlene L. Turner writes award-winning romantic suspense for Love Inspired. So, let's get to know her...

I’m Darlene L. Turner and I’m from London, Ontario, Canada. Well, besides my red hair, I’m known for my love of plaid shirts. I have over 30. LOL

Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb:

Explosive Christmas Showdown

A bomber brings terror to Christmas as the presents go tick…tick…boom. With criminal investigative analyst Olive Wells at the center of a bomber’s dangerous game, she’ll do anything to catch the culprit—even work with her ex-fiancé and his K-9 detector dog. But with the Christmas rampage drawing ever closer, Zac Turner’s convinced the attacks are personal. Can they piece together their ties to the bomber…before another gift explodes?

Explosive Christmas Showdown is my first K-9 novel. I grew up with cats, so it was a bit challenging for me to write Zac’s relationship with his K-9, Ziva. It was fun to explore and research dogs! They are so smart!

5. Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two?

What was your favorite childhood Christmas present?

What’s your favorite Christmas candy?

My favorite Christmas present was a new bike! Favorite Christmas candy is a tie between dark chocolate fudge and peanut butter buckeyes - only homemade, of course. Buckeyes are the state tree of Ohio, my home state. Buckeye candy is a peanut butter fudge ball covered in dark chocolate. Yum!

I love your red hair and plaid shirt, as well as your book cover!

My favorite Christmas present was a purse with dogs on it. It was hand sewn by one of mom's clients & meant so much to me. Favorite Christmas candy are Reese's Christmas trees. :)

My favorite Christmas gift was one of those pink and white, peppermint scented Hula Hoops! My cousin also received one, and we of course held contests to see how long we could last! She won most every time!

I've never heard of hula hoops like that--how cool! By the way, please reply with your name if you'd like to be entered into the drawing for the book. :)

Could you stay on? I am not so coordinated and fell off every time I tried a friend's...so never asked for one. :)

We have kept our daughter's Barbie townhouse for any future grandchildren. :) And I love brittle, too. I may have a slight sweet tooth.
