Dear Readers,

This is a bonus! Plus, I'd over-booked--easier to do than I thought! Anyway, I'm delighted to feature a beautiful children's book--hope you enjoy!

God bless,

Christina

Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they

meet you:

Hello, I’m Karen Ferguson, author of the Questions for Kids picture book series, published through Ambassador International! I’m a wife of more than 33 years, mom to two grown daughters, and grandmom to a growing tribe of dearly loved grandchildren. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and relocated with my family to Tennessee in 2021. It immediately felt like home. I’m also the host of the 5-Minute Parenting Podcast, which I took over from an author friend. I wasn’t sure how I’d adjust to this new venture, but I’m loving it! The fact that I record using audio only sure helped this behind-the-scenes writer with the adjustment

I suppose people might notice that I’m friendly and like to smile.

Tell us about your book:

The third book in the 7-book Questions for Kids picture book series released October 1st. It’s called Guess Why God Made the Rainbow and takes young readers back to Noah’s Ark, where they discover the true meaning of the rainbow, and that, without a doubt, God is a Promise Keeper. Here’s the back cover description:

Come join Lucy and her Papa Joe on another exciting adventure into the Bible, this time going back to Noah's Ark! Lucy is afraid of storms. She hides under her covers every time the thunder roars. But Papa Joe calms her fears, and then he has an important question for her, "Do you know what the rainbow means?" Follow along in this third book in the Questions for Kids series as Papa Joe shows Lucy how God is faithful to protect and keep His promises, even amongst the storms of life.

An explosive thunder clap boomed behind him, shaking the hallway walls. At the same time, a high-pitched squeal echoed from the bedroom. Another summer thunderstorm. This was not unusual for this part of the South, but Lucy was unusually afraid of them. It seemed to bother her new puppy, too. Papa Joe’s scooter wheels screeched as he turned the corner into Lucy’s room. It was dark, but he could see two heads popping out from under the covers. “Lucy, it’s okay to feel afraid; just remember that God is with you, and He protects you,” Papa Joe said, trying to comfort her. “I know, it’s just that Rosie doesn’t like thunderstorms.” Papa Joe held back a chuckle as he scooted to the window and opened the curtains. “Well, look at that, Lucy. The storm has died down already, and look what’s in its place. A rainbow!” Lucy crawled out slowly from under the covers and stood in front of the window to look. Her eyes lit up. “It’s gorgeous!” “Yes, it sure is, and it’s a beautiful reminder of God’s special promise. Do you know what the rainbow means, Lucy?”

Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two:

Guess Why God Made the Rainbow has a lot of wild animals in it! What is your favorite wild animal? Also, do you own a pet, if so what kind and do you let them sleep on the furniture?

My Answer: My favorite wild animal is deer. We have plenty of them often roaming our neighborhood, and they are so beautiful and gentle. Right now, I have three dogs in our house. Our own, a rambunctious Golden Retriever, and we’re temporarily keeping our daughters' dogs: a Golden Retriever and Mini-Aussie Shepherd. Yes, we do let them on our furniture. Unfortunately, I have found that is a boundary that’s hard to set once they’ve enjoyed the freedom.
