Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb.

Teatime with God is a Christian devotional journal that incorporates mental health practices in an effort to foster healing and a meaningful connection with God. Each topic addressed within is divided into three main sections to provide deep, heartfelt reflections and encouragement to the reader. It starts off with scripture verses, then goes on to give a contemplative viewpoint from the author and ends with thought-provoking prompts for the reader to answer. If you’re ready to unshackle yourself from the stigma attached to mental health and Christianity, then this book is for you.

Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book.

I found it difficult to write this book as I am a newly licensed therapist. I have been working as a licensed clinician for less than a year. So, it was difficult to write this book because I thought I would not be taken as seriously as mental health professionals with years of experience. However, I overcame that because I have been working in the mental health field for years as a child welfare worker, case manager, a job coach, and a few other roles. And those experiences are just as meaningful and relevant when it comes to my credibility as a mental health professional.

Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two.

What has been your experience in balancing your mental health and spirituality? For me, I recently realized how they both go hand in hand. I’ve learned that I need to actively pour into myself mentally and spiritually in order to be the best version of myself. And sometimes in doing that, I have also learned that what I have learned in the faith may contradict what I have learned to do for my mental health. And vice versa. It has been a challenging and rewarding experience, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share it with others.
