Guest Blog: Lori DeJong and Love's True Home Prize: Signed Copy! WINNER: Crystal

Updated: Aug 11

Dear Readers, please join me in welcoming Lori. Her book cover is beautiful! I hope y'all are doing well and enjoying summer!

Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they meet you.

Hi from Georgetown, Texas! I’m Lori DeJong and I live in beautiful Hill Country in Central

Texas. I really don’t know what people might notice about me, but what I hope they notice

is that I’m genuinely interested in them. Not only because individual nuances can

sometimes find their way into my books, but I just find people fascinating.

Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb?

My book is Love’s True Home, Book Two in the True Calling Series.

Allyson Kincaid needs roots. Born and raised on the foreign mission field, all she wants is

home and hearth on American soil. Finally past the break-up with the man she’d thought

was the love of her life, she’s ready to put herself back out there. Too bad the first guy

who’s made her pulse skip in nearly two years dreams of a life spent in foreign missions.

She’s been there, done that, and, although she supports him in his calling, knows his choice

means she’ll be laying even more broken dreams, and a newly shattered heart, at the feet

of Jesus.

When Zane Carpenter relocates to Arlington, Texas, his seventh move in thirteen years, his

only thought is to meet his obligation with Becker Ministries in a few months, then take a

foreign mission assignment, his dream for the past several years. But working so closely

with Ally in student ministry has him feeling things he’s never experienced. He’s ready for a

future with her, until he accepts an opportunity to work on foreign soil and Ally stays

behind. He knows God put him there for a reason, although his heart still longs for the girl

back home.

Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book?

Without giving away any spoilers, Zane, my male protagonist, is dealing with a sense of

abandonment, but he’s not really aware of it. He just knows he has a need to keep moving, to never get too invested in anybody or stay in one place very long. He’s a very godly young man who dreams of life in foreign missions. But he has to come to terms with the issue of abandonment in the story, and his healing from that, and that was a challenging part of the story for me.

Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two?

Right off the bat in chapter one of Love’s True Home, Ally finds herself in the path of a flying bridal bouquet. Have you ever caught the bouquet at a wedding? If so, did you go after it, or did you have no choice but to catch it? I never caught one, but I kind of always wanted to. Would love to hear your story!

I tried to comment yesterday but most likely it was user error. I've been cleaning out emails like a ninja so I'm glad I took time to read this one. I work at a mission board as a secretary to 13 men, so I am really intrigued by this story idea!

I have never caught a bouquet that I can remember. Most likely, I would trip over myself or fall, so that may be a good thing as well.

People tell me they love my smile. My eyes are really small so I'm just now noticing how small my eyes appear when I smile in pictures, so I guess that is all they can see when I smile. Hahahaha.

Hi Lori! I’ve never caught the bouquet. It’s probably a good thing. I’m really good at making a mess when it comes to men. lol 😂

I love the sound of your books. I need to read one. I’m also live in Central Texas.
