Dear Readers, Happy belated 4th of July! I hope you got to eat cookout and spend time with friends and family celebrating our wonderful country. One thing to remember--those who fought in the American Revolution didn't have it easy. An article in our local newspaper told of the Charlestonians who fought--one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence was captured at the fall of Charleston, imprisoned at St. Augustine, and served 42 weeks of solitary confinement! Freedom definitely isn't free.
Now, to something sweeter--romance!
Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they meet you.

Hey there! I’m Lori DeJong and I live in Georgetown, Texas, in beautiful hill country just north of Austin with my husband of 32 years and our two fur-babies. I’m really not sure what people notice about me right off, but I hope they see somebody interested in who they are and who wants to be friends. (I also have this weird scar right on the top of my nose from chicken pox when I was five. Could be that’s what they notice first. Haha!)
Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb.
My newest release is Love’s True Measure, Book 3 of my True Calling series. Here’s a bit about it:
A guilt-ridden woman with everything to gain, a self-made man with everything to lose …
Shannon Trent has dedicated her life to ministering to teens, even as she hides secrets that haunt her past. Born into privilege, she’s built a simpler life away from the expectations of her influential family. She’s content on her own, believing that to open her heart would mean unearthing her deepest shame. But when her charming neighbor stirs feelings she’s never allowed herself to entertain, his lack of faith provides the perfect excuse to keep her distance.
Hunter Kavanaugh has spent years chasing his dream career. But when his mother’s sudden death leaves him the sole guardian of his teenage sister, his carefully curated world begins to crumble. Struggling with grief, anger at God, and the demands of his job, Hunter is surprised when Shannon’s unwavering faith begins to resonate with him—and her ability to connect with his sister draws him closer.

As Hunter and Shannon navigate their growing bond, unexpected challenges force them to confront their fears and priorities. Both must either choose to trust God’s plan is far greater than their own, or risk losing the love of a lifetime.
Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book.
It’s the first time I’ve ever written a main character who isn’t a believer when the story opens. Traveling that road with him, through betrayal, loss, and anger at God, had me praying a lot that I would do justice to his journey in a realistic way but also without turning away a reader. Hunter came from very little and has achieved enormous success in his career. With that comes the ability to surround himself with “things” he believes are the measure of who he is. Materialism is a turn-off, but in his case, it comes from a deep-set desire to “be someone.” I think readers will be touched by his story.
Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two?
Hunter and Shannon find themselves on an “accidental” date when their third party decides to do something else. Have you ever found yourself on a date-adjacent with somebody you really liked? Maybe that’s not how it was planned but that’s how it turned out. Share your story—good, bad, or awkward!

Never been on an accidental date. The books sounds fun! 😊
I have never been on what I would call an accidental date, but I have been in set up situations where third parties backed out on purpose. Ugh! So awkward! LOL Your book sounds amazing. I'm intrigued by the mention of her dealing with shame. My book is YA and deals with that issue too. Looking forward to reading to see how you handled it.
I have never been on an accidental date. Love’s True Measure sounds like a wonderful story.
I have never ended up on an accidental date and see it as hard to happen. But it makes for a fun story.
