Dear Readers, I hope you are all doing well! A little background for this blog--late in the year, I post the sign-up for the following year on the American Christian Fictions Writers email loop. I also posted on the Blue Ridge Readers Facebook page. In other words, authors who are new to me sign up (plus, people I know quite well). Michael is a brand-new-author to me, so join me in learning about his work!
Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they
meet you.

My name is Michael Huskey. My wife Nikki and I have three children and live in beautiful
Ridgway CO. We have been serving the churches in this area for several years now through music, teaching, preaching, and discipleship. I have a great hunger for the Word of God, and I have a great burden for the church that Jesus is building until His amazing return. I am driven by God’s Word, theology, doctrine, and Church History for the purpose of studying each of these things well so that I can serve God’s people.
Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb.
The title of my book is Tear Down the Church: The Ideas of Man Versus the Word of God. It is
really focused on pastors, teachers, and home leadership to be challenged to get back to a Christ Centered view of Scripture, leadership, and life in general. It deals with the individual church member, the church leader, the pastor, and the head of household.
Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book.
This book seemed to just pour out of my heart. I wouldn’t say that anything was difficult, other
than maybe all of the editing that it went through, which I am quite thankful for because my
editor was amazing. But if I had to choose something somewhat difficult it would be my
overwhelming sense to not want to repeat the same information over and over again like most
books do today. I wanted the book to progress in thought and structure in order to keep the
reader both engaged as well as informed.

In my years of life, I have witnessed what Charles Spurgeon called “the downgrade.”
What is interesting is that this downgrade seems to be very elusive. It goes unnoticed; and for
some reason, people like it that way. Many people appear to be very comfortable with the way
things are. They do not want to exert much thought or energy in the kingdom of God. Anyone
can slap the label “Christian” on something, and many people in the church will fully and
gullibly embrace it as such. Many things are done in the name of Christ that He has no part of.
Discernment has left the building, and chasing after it is unsettling because I am comfortable.
Apostasy is knocking at the door; and for many, the door is already open.
Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two. I want to encourage comments and
engagement!
What is the strangest thing or teaching that you have heard in what is called a biblical church?

God bless all of your endeavors, Michael!
My husband and I had a puppet ministry at the church I grew up in before it ended up closing it's doors. I had wrote a script based on scripture for my husband and our puppet, Moose the Church Mouse, would perform. I had to clear each script with the pastor before we were allowed to do the children's story. I do not remember which script it was, but she wanted me to change the script so that it did not reflect the scripture. We ended up stopping our ministry as well as going to church because I did not feel I could change the script to something that did not reflect the Word of God. Thank you so…
Sounds like an interesting book
