Dear Readers, please join me in welcoming Sharon Wilharm...author, speaker, and Bible storyteller...filmmaker, blogger, ministry leader, speaker, and podcast house (from her website). Wow, I'm impressed--how about you?
Introduce yourself—name, where you’re from, and something people notice when they
meet you?

Hi! I’m Sharon Wilharm, and I’m originally from Florida but now live in Tennessee.
I think people notice me as an old soul. I live in a 126-year-old Queen Anne Victorian house decorated as close to period as we can make it. I love old books, vintage fashions, and antique china. I’m not a big fan of technology for entertainment, but I love how God uses it
for ministry.
Tell us about your book—title and back cover blurb.
The Amazing Crab Alley Revival is a Southern historical story about Victorian church ladies.
It’s a loose retelling of Lydia in the Bible.
In 1897 Florida, a widowed woman searching for purpose finds herself drawn into an
unexpected friendship—and a revival that will transform an entire town.
Wealthy widow Lydia Culpepper is evaluating her mundane existence. For sixty-three years,
she’s faithfully gone through the motions of fulfilling everyone else’s expectations for her
life, but nothing she does is ever enough. She longs for something more.
When a young boy comes to her house in search of his missing coon dog, she gets her wish.
She meets Emily Reed, a young finishing school instructor, and Opal Jackson, an Irish single
mother, and the three women join together on a mission that turns the First Baptist Church
on its head.
Suddenly, the town is in an uproar as lives are being changed. When Yellow Fever hits, it
looks like their efforts may have been in vain, but the epidemic isn’t enough to thwart the
fruits of the Crab Alley Revival.
Share one thing that you found difficult or challenging about writing this book?
I set my book in the turn-of-the-century because that’s when our house was built. In fact,
this is the second house we’ve lived in built in the late 1800’s. We’ve also renovated historic
storefronts from the same period. So I know a lot about the time period. Still, little details
will slip you up.

By biggest challenge is with words. I love incorporating colloquial language that’s distinctly
old-fashioned. I want every word I use to be period correct, but sometimes that’s harder
than you’d think. Whenever I’m in doubt, I’ll do a search for the word’s origins. But
sometimes word meanings change over time. At least once, I used a word that was from an
earlier time period, but at that point, it had a different meaning. Luckily, my editor was
good about catching things like that.
The Amazing Crab Alley Revival releases July 15, 2026. You can follow my blog and
newsletter for behind-the-scenes stories as I count down the 100 days to release date.
Ask the blog reader a quirky question or two?
What is your favorite type of character to read about?
I love quirky characters, especially spunky older ladies trying to prove themselves. I find
them the easiest to write. I have a hard time writing about sweet-tempered, mild-
mannered young women.

Sharon is a new author for me and a relatively new friend. So looking forward to getting this novel in my hands, and I’m also anxious to get it for my sister. It’s right up “our alley”.
Thank you for sharing about your book. It sounds fabulous. I love quirky characters that I can identify with as someone who could be part of my family as a friend. God bless you.
Oh my goodness, this sounds like a perfect book for my church library. I have a couple of patrons who would just love this story. I will have to watch where it's publication.
